Clothes Closet Availability

The EGFBS Clothes Closet offers a variety of methods for Adults and Children to receive clothing.

The EGFBS Clothes Closet hosts several “Share Your Clothes” days throughout the year where adults (and their families) can select clothes from those donated. These events are usually on a Saturday and are publicized in the local newspaper and the EGFBS Food Closet. All donations can be dropped off at the EGFBS Food Closet.

The EGFBS Clothes Closet serves the children of the Elk Grove Unified School District in three ways:

Coat Days - Volunteers from EGFBS Clothes Closet will bring warm clothing – jackets, sweatshirts and sweaters – the school requesting a Coat Day. Children identified by their teachers to be in need are then invited to select their own clothes from the choices donated.

Request for Clothing – EGUSD Mail – A school employee who sees a child in need of clothing may submit a “request for clothing” through district mail and the EGFBS Clothes Closet will send a package of clothes to the child’s school.

Uniforms – Nearly half of the schools in the Elk Grove Unified School District require uniforms – white shirts or blouses with a collar and navy blue slacks – for their students. Our goal is to give each child one new and one recycled uniform plus a couple of pairs of white socks.
