To provide essential resources to overcome the many faces of hunger and human need.

Message from Director

A Word of Thanks...

Marie Jachino, Executive Director

Dear Friends,

This past year has been truly amazing for me. I've been humbled by the phenomenal support the Elk Grove Food Bank Services has received from donors, community partners, volunteers and leaders in our community.  It's a privilege to serve our mission.  I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the work we all do together to create a stronger community.

The Food Bank has made a difference in the lives of more than 48,000 people struggling with hunger by providing over 439,000 in our last fiscal year. The statistics become incredibly heartbreaking when we get to know the real people behind those numbers - kids who might go to school hungry and have trouble focusing, seniors who struggle to stretch their fixed incomes, college students who don't know where their next meal is coming from, and hardworking adults suffering from diseases like diabetes because they don't have access to healthy food.

We recently expanded our mobile distribution to include a Food Pantry at Cosumnes River College.  In addition, we added another Senior Mobile Distribution to our existing five sites.  We have a new strategic plan that will create new ways the Food Bank can continue to expand and strengthen our impact for families, children, seniors, veterans and the homeless.

We are committed to helping the people we serve.  Those who have been affected by circumstances they didn't imagine. Seniors who rely on Social Security as their largest, and sometimes only source of income.  It's not surprising that many of the almost 900 seniors we serve report that they have to sometimes choose between buying food or paying for utilities or medication to stretch their budget as much as possible.

We couldn't do this great work without you.  With your generous support, all of this work is possible.  Thank you for joining us to serve those less fortunate.

In Gratitude,

Marie
