To provide essential resources to overcome the many faces of hunger and human need.

Message from Director

A Word of Thanks...

Marie Jachino, Executive Director

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

With 2015 now in full swing, I want to look back for a moment and thank you for your tremendous support of Elk Grove Food Bank Services (EGFBS) during the busy holiday season.  2014 was a year of tremendous growth for EGFBS.  With the support of our community, the Food Bank reached historic milestones in the fight against food insecurity by distributing a record 1,050,252 pounds of food.  Each month, more than 4,000 individuals rely on us, a number that continues to rise.

Many families are struggling to pay higher living costs with fewer resources.  Children aren't getting fresh produce or other high-nutrient food that keeps them active and healthy.  Seniors living on social security or a fixed income often skip meals to pay for medicine or utilities.  Food is a medical necessity for seniors.

Stewardship is key to everything we do -- 94 cents of every donated dollar goes directly to EGFBS programs and services. We rely on our dedicated volunteers, have an amazing network of community partners, and are blessed to have continued support of generous donors. I see a powerful and engaged community: People who believe that no one should go hungry. Meeting this urgent need for food assistance is only part of our mission.  We also strive to promote long-term solutions through our Support Works program.

Together, we are creating a future in which no one goes hungry. We look forward to seeing you and thanking you in person for all your loyal support.

In Gratitude,
