
FitFusion – This pilot program in conjunction with Kaiser Permanente is a 19-week exercise and nutrition counseling program designed to fight childhood obesity. Twelve middle school-aged boys and girls exercise four days per week, and their “graduation” will occur at the Run 4 Independence when they all complete a 5k run or walk. Harvest of Hope --An evening under the stars held in September of each year featuring a fabulous dinner, live music, and silent and live auctions. The date will be determined shortly.
Postal Carriers Food Drive – Held each year on the second Saturday in May, this one-day food collection drive by all the Elk Grove, Laguna and Wilton postal carriers typically yields 10-15 tons of non-perishable food that can be distributed by the Food Bank.
Kids Can – Sponsored by KCRA-TV, this is a four-week food collection drive conducted through all local schools each year in October and November. Provides the bulk of the non-perishable food distributed by the Food Bank for the entire year.
Christmas Box Distribution – Held each December approximately one week before Christmas, this one-day event features the distribution of boxes to needy families. Each box contains all the ingredients needed for them to prepare their own Christmas dinner: turkey, potatoes, vegetables, rolls, cranberry sauce, pie and even whipped cream!
