What’s Available

Helping Hand Program- FREE information and assistance from trained volunteers who provide personal, hands-on assistance as well as follow-up. This valuable and FREE service provides families and individuals with a link to community resources and an enhanced sense of well-being.

Coordinating services are also available for seniors with the assistance of a professional geriatric care manager.

The following programs are offered through Helping Hand:

Support Works for Women – Through mentoring, peer support, training curriculum, and individual job development the program provides women with the skills and self-confidence to become self-reliant.

THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON FIVE MAIN AREAS:

  • Empowerment
  • Support Groups
  • Health
  • Case Management

SESSIONS ARE OFFERED IN JANUARY, APRIL, JUNE AND SEPTEMBER.

8-week classes are held Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

Brown Bag Program – Provides low income seniors 60 and over, disabled, individuals who are HIV positive and the homeless with a nutritional supplemental bag of groceries once a month.

Fit Fusion – Youth and Family Health & Fitness Program/Co-Sponsored with Kaiser Permanente South. A 19-week fitness, nutrition, and healthy living program for overweight 12 – 14 year olds and their families.

All the programs are free and you don’t have to be a client of the Elk Grove Food Bank to use the services.
